BattleItOut sends text messages only to people who have asked for them. This page explains exactly who gets a message, what those messages say, and how to stop them. If you never opt in, we never text you.
Who sends them

How you opt in
- You create a BattleItOut account and enter your own mobile number. We verify it belongs to you before it can be used for anything.
- You are asked, separately from accepting our Terms, whether we may text you. The box is not ticked for you.
- Only if you tick it do we send anything — starting with a confirmation message.
We never text a number somebody else gave us. When you invite a friend to a battle, you send them the link yourself from your own phone, or they receive it by email. BattleItOut does not message them. A person only ever hears from us after entering their own number and agreeing.
You can turn texts off at any time in the app under Settings, or by replying STOP to any message. Turning texts off does not close your account or end your battles.
What we send, and how often
Battle reminders and results. Message frequency varies with how many battles you are in and how they are set up. Message and data rates may apply.
- An invitation — when somebody challenges you to a battle.
- A daily check-in reminder — on battles that ask you to check in each day.
- A streak warning — when a streak you are on ends tonight unless you check in.
- A result — when a battle you were in is settled.

These are the messages we send, word for word.
Confirmation — the first message, sent only after you opt in:

Stopping, and getting help
Reply STOP to any message and we stop texting you. Reply HELP and you get:

The opt-in form
The consent box is shown when you set up your account, next to the mobile number you entered. It reads:
I agree to receive battle reminders and results by text from BattleItOut. Msg & data rates may apply.
It is not ticked by default, and it is separate from accepting our Terms of Service.
Your number
We do not sell or share your phone number, or your consent to be texted, with anyone for marketing. We use your number to send you the messages described on this page and nothing else. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your information, and our Terms for the text messaging program.
